Community Guidelines

We are a community of makers, creators, and professionals. These guidelines ensure The Laser Workshop remains a safe and helpful resource for everyone.

Safety is Non-Negotiable

Laser cutting involves risks of fire and hazardous fumes.

  • Never encourage or downplay dangerous practices (e.g., leaving lasers unattended).
  • Do not share settings for known hazardous materials (e.g., PVC/Vinyl) without explicitly clear and bold warnings about chlorine gas.
  • Always recommend running a small "test card" before a full job when sharing settings.

Shared Responsibility

Understand that machines vary. A setting that works on one 100W CO2 laser might be too hot or too weak for another.

  • When sharing, be as specific as possible about your machine model and wattage.
  • When using shared settings, you assume full responsibility for testing and verifying safety on your own equipment.

Respect & Support

We welcome beginners and experts alike.

  • Constructive feedback is encouraged; being rude or dismissive is not.
  • Harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks will result in an immediate ban.
  • Help others learn—if you see a dangerous setting, report it politely or comment with a correction.

Content Standards

  • Do not upload copyrighted designs or files you do not have permission to share.
  • No spam, self-promotion of unrelated products, or solicitation.
  • Keep profiles and shared content appropriate for a general audience.

Ethical Promotion

For our affiliates and partners.

  • Transparency: Always disclose your affiliate relationship (e.g., "I earn a commission") when sharing links.
  • No Spam: Do not mass-message users or post unsolicited links in unrelated discussions.
  • Honesty: Do not make false claims about platform features or pricing to drive clicks.

Professionalism

For makers accepting leads and client work.

  • Respond to inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Keep commission conversations off public feeds if possible.
  • Deliver what you promise. Repeated reports of undelivered work may result in removal from the Maker Map.
