Use The Laser Workshop in your AI app
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or your own agent for laser settings, project ideas and what to charge, straight from the community's tested settings. Searching works without an account. Sign in when you want it to see your lasers or save settings for you.
The server address
Every app below uses this one address (an MCP server):
https://thelaserworkshop.com/mcpThings to ask
- “What settings work for 3mm basswood on my xTool S1?”
- “Find me a beginner ornament project I can make on a diode laser.”
- “What should I charge for 25 engraved slate coasters? Slate is $2 each and each one takes 6 minutes.”
- “Save these settings to my Laser Workshop library: walnut, 300 mm/s, 25% power, 254 LPI.”
- “Start a project draft for the leather keychains I made today.”
Connect your app
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Name it The Laser Workshop and paste the server address.
Claude asks you to sign in the first time you use something that needs your account.
ChatGPT
In Settings, open Apps (or Connectors) and turn on Developer mode under Advanced. Create a new app or connector, paste the server address, and choose OAuth for sign-in.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http tlw https://thelaserworkshop.com/mcpThen run /mcp in Claude Code to sign in when you want account features.
Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and other MCP clients
Add a remote (HTTP) MCP server with the address above. Most clients take a config like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"the-laser-workshop": {
"url": "https://thelaserworkshop.com/mcp"
}
}
}Hermes, OpenClaw and other agents
Any agent that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP works: add the server address in its MCP settings. Agents that can open a browser sign in the same way; others can use the search tools without signing in.
What it can and can't do
- Without signing in: search settings, projects, machines and makers, and price a project. The same things anyone can see on the site.
- Signed in: see your lasers and saved settings, save a setting to your private library, and start a project draft.
- It never publishes. Saved settings stay private and drafts stay drafts until you review them, add photos and share them yourself.
- It can't change your account, see your billing or read your private files.
Your AI app sees what it searches for and what you tell it, under its own privacy policy. Ours is at /privacy.
